The VPS technology which in the past mainly concentrated on corrosion and oxidation resistant coatings and thermal barrier applications,has been developed further to successfully meet other industrial needs.It is important to relise that VPS is an extention of air plasma spraying (APS).Therefore the full range of possibilities of both coating methods can be used for the VPS manufacture of :
-Coatings with defined structures without thickness limitation:hgh density or defined porosity.
-Coatings from reactive materials without oxidation or with defined chemcial reactions.
-Coatings with defined physical properties,e.g.conductive or non-conductive,abrasive or abradable,heat conductive or insulating,stable or catalytic.
-Free standing coatings or bodies.
-Production of new material combinations with blended powders or different materials mixed in the plasma flame.
