Abstract
Austenitic stainless steel is difficult-to-machine material. It has the following processing characteristics: the serious work-harden,the big cutting force,the high temperature,etc. When cutting austenitic stainless ,the general tools wear seriously,the tool life is short. Usually tool materials used for machining austenitic stainless steel are cemented carbide cutting tools, metal ceramic cutting tools and coated tools. In order to discuss further the wear mechanism of coated carbide cutting tools when cutting austenitic stainless steel, This paper studies the process of the YBG202 coated carbide dry cutting austenitic stainless steel 0Cr18Ni9.
First of all, according to the test data records, the coated tools wear curve at a different cutting speed when cutting stainless steel is made. The results show that,with cutting speeds increase, the slope of curve of early tool wear is bigger, wear is more intense.
Secondly, this paper discusses the tool wear (breakage) form and mechanism of coated tool. it is thought in the test that the form of wear and breakage are flank wear ,boundary wear and the tip of damaged.The wear mechanism of coated tools are adhesion wear, diffusion wear and oxidative wear when cutting stainless steel.
Among them, when the cutting speed is low, the tool failure standard is the tip of damaged, when thethe speed is high, it is flank wear. At last, the process of cutting austenitic stainless steel with coated cutting too l is simulated with the help of Abaqus.it is found that shearing Angle increase with the cutting speed increasing, scraps degeneration coefficient decreases.This phenomenon verified that the reason of chip morphology change is the increase of the cutting speed. And the simulation results show that the tip stress concentration,it is proof that the main breakage form is the tip of damaged.
