Abstract:The technical program of PM2004 World Congress is described, and world powder metallurgy industry is overviewed. According to different technical fields and materials, the state of the art and perspective for PM sin-tered steel, powder injection molding, powder processing, powder compaction, powder sintering techniques and fundamentals, PM porous materials, hardalloys, PM light metals, secondary and finishing operations for PM parts,PM processing modeling and standardization, and PM functional materials, have been described in detail. The status and the perspective of world powder metallurgy industry indicates that powder metallurgy is rather an integrated in-dustrialized technique than merely a high-tech.
