Abstract: Different powers were chosen to perform plasma spraying on Q235 steel with Al2O3 coating material. The in-gredient,the microstructure and interfacial morphology,the metallurgical structure and the microhardness of Al2O3 ceramic coating were respectively characterized by X-ray diffractometer,scanning electron microscopy,metallographic camera and microhardness tester under different powers. The results show that,the compact structure of Al2O3 ceramic coating is formed on the surface of carbon steel by plasma spraying. The bonding between coating and substrate is mainly metallurgy mechan-ical combination,and the hardness is increased obviously than that of substrate. XRD analysis reveals that,the main ingre-dient of ceramic coating is the stable γ-Al2O3 phase,and the small amount of α-Al2O3 phase existed,while there are a few of other polycrystalline phase and amorphous phase.
