Abstract:In recent years, under the background of globalization an unparalleled development opportunity is provided for the manufactory industry in our country. The modern cutting tools have become a key factor for promoting manufactory technology. In addition, the constant progressive requirements for cutting machining and the level of the materials machined and also reducing the environmental pollution and so on have promoted the development of coating technology for modern cutting tools. Themult-i composites coatings and mult-i layer coatings such as TiAlN,TiAlCN and CrSiN,which come from themult-i alloy and diversification of coating processes combination, enable coatings to achieve high wear resistance, low friction coefficient and red hardness aswell as high oxidation resistance, thus greatly advance the performance of modern cuttings. Nano-composites and micro-grain structure help the materials with difficult cutting properties to obtain new solutions. Diamond coating and DLC have achieved a good effect in nonmetal materials such as machining graphite components and fiber enhanced and also non ferrous alloy materials. To adapt to the development of coating process the equipment for coating has also achieved integration,modularization and intelligentization, resulting in technology individuation. The development of coating technology also reacts to the modern cutting tools and makes it become a kind of product with high technology. This fully shows the interactive development between the two.
