Abstract: The erosion and wear of gun barrel can reduce the gun barrel erosion life and restrict the gun development. The new technologies to extend the erosion life of gun barrel are summarized in this paper including laser heat treating of the inner face of gun barrel, manufacturing of composite gun barrel and coating of the inner face of gun barrel. Then every technology was studied according to the structure and principle of gun barrel. In the end, a suitable method to extend the erosion life of gun barrel was proposed.
