Abstract: Perhydropolysilazane( PHPS) is an excellent coating material，which can convert into silica under proper curing condition． This paper has reviewed the advantages and curing mechanism of PHPS as coating material． Meanwhile，the review highlighted the potential applications of PHPS as coating material in different fields． Finally，some suggestions about the development of PHPS in China were given．
