Abstract: The epoxy/nano-ZnO composite coating was prepared by modification of nano-ZnO synthesized using polyacrylamide gel method. The epoxy/nano-ZnO composite coating was characterized by XRD and SEM, and the corrosion resistance of bare substrate, composite coating and epoxy/nano-ZnO coating after stannate conversion treatment was studied by polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The results showed that the composite coating displayed a two-phase structure, and ZnO particles were distributed homogeneously in the composite coating;composite coating in conjunction with stannate conversion improved the corrosion resistance of Mg–Li alloy. The mass fraction of nano-ZnO affects the corrosion resistance of Mg–Li alloy. The composite coating has the strongest protective effect on Mg–Li alloy with 2% nano-ZnO.
