Abstract: Super hydrophobic surface have potential application in many fields，such as coatings，water proof and biomedical materials，because of their self-cleaning and non-wetting properties．And the abundant researches have been reported in last decade on their preparation methods．The new development of super hydrophobic surfaceis summarized from both experimental and theoretical aspects． Some problems in super hydrophobic coatings research are pointed out．The development directionof the super hydrophobic surface has been proposed in the end．
