Abstract： Heat transfer rate can be effectively enhanced by modifying the flow and thermal characteristics of the heat transfer fluid and the surface properties by applying nanotechnology. The progress of applications of nanofluids，latent-heat thermal fluids by using nano-encapsulation phase change materials and nano-coated surface in heat transfer enhancement are summarized. The mechansims of heat transfer enhancement for the different nanotechnologies are analyzed，the existing problems in these researches and the prospect of application are discussed.
