ABSTRACT： Thermal spraying technology is an important part of the surface engineering in materials science field. It is a surface hardening and surface modification technology， it is seized about one -third of the surface engineering technology. In view of development foreground of thermal spraying technology and coating materials application， analyzes the main features of the thermal spraying coating materials， introduces common using thermal spraying coating materials， studies milling methods and quality controlling of the spraying powder， discusses the development tendency of thermal spraying technology and coating materials， points out that coating materials play an important part to promote thermal spraying technology development.
