Abstract:The yttria(Y2O3) coating on aluminum alloy substrate was prepared by plasma spraying.The microstructure ofY2O3coatingwas characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction and metallographic microscope. The results show that the Y2O3 coating is no crack and is rather compact with 5. 58% porosity.The coating is composed of cubic and monolithic phase.The powder plays an important role in phase transformation of the coating. The monoclinic phase in the powder can promote cubicymonoclinic phase transformation.
