Abstract: The poor high temperature oxidation resistance of molybdenum and its alloys limits their applications．MoSi2 is considered to be the most suitable high － temperature coating material because of its excellent high temper-ature oxidation resistance． Physical properties，mechanism of oxidation resistance and coating preparation technolo-gies of MoSi2 are summaried． The research progress on the Mosi2 oxidation resistance coating of molybdenum and its alloys is reviewed，including MoSi2 sole coating and MoSi2 composite coatings． The research trend of MoSi2 coating in the future is forecasted．
