Abstract In this paper, a mechanochemical method was established to prepare functionalized ultra-ne polypropylene powder. Through pan-milling by a self-designed pan-type mechanochemical reactor, polypropylene (PP) was nely pulverized, during the process, Inorganic peroxide solution was sprayed onto the PP powder surface to realize its rapid functionalization taking advantages of the mechanochemical effects caused by milling. Analysis results of elec- tron spectroscopic chemical analysis (ESCA) show the PP ultra-ne powder prepared by this method can obtain over 0.1 oxygen content (O/C). Some factors inuencing functionalization degree, including concentration, spraying amount of Inorganic peroxide solution and milling temperature, were discussed. Besides, the degradation of PP during this process was investigated.
