The Design and Control of a Kind of Train-truck Surface Painting Machine

Abstract
Today, in the industry of train truck’s processing, the automatization painting machine for the truck’ surface is not widely used, especially for the truck that needs repair. Hence, the painting worker have to work hardly, and the painting quality directly depends on the worker’s skill; with the development of the industry and the train transportation, it is necessary to design a set of roboticized machine to substitute worker for train-truck painting.
This paper introduces a kind of simple train-truck painting machine which is controlled by Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). The machine aims at painting the surface of train carriage which needs repair automatically. Its function includes painting the carriage’s inside , outside and bottom surface. The core of control system is PLC, which can control five direction’s movement: the direction of carriage’ length, width, height, and two rotate movement. Because the machine is designed for the repairing trucks, the low cost is the key factor that should be considered , so the structure of machine is simple and its produce cost is lower. For the special environment of the painting, the system uses a series of protection means, for example, the measure of prevent from exploding, which makes the machine work safely.
Based on analyzing the development trend of auto painting machine, we research and design the kind of simple train-truck painting machine. The following is the mainly work.First, we confirm the movement which the machine should realize according to the train-truck’s geometry shape, design the mechanical part reference to the technique require book, and discuss the key part of the research. Second, we design the control system specifically, and introduce some electric hardware we used. Last, we analyze the safety characteristic of the device, and talk about the installation and debugging of the device.
In the view of produce cost and safety, we design this simple train-truck painting machine. It can take the place of worker to paint, can improve the painting quality and the efficiency, and can reduce the painting cost. Its application will greatly advance the development of the country’s train-truck painting.
