OBTAINING AND CHARACTERIZATION OF HA /Y2O3: Al2O3 SYSTEM FOR BIOAPPLICATIONS

Abstract
HA/ Y2O3: Al2O3 new system, was obtained by the deposition of the hydroxyapatite layer, by magnetron sputtering, on sintering substrate of low yttria doped alumina. The doped alumina was obtained from very pure nanopowders (INFRAMAT USA), by mechanical homogenization, followed of pressing, sintering and annealing, to obtain bodies at different annealing treatments. TEM/ HRTEM, SEM and EDS were used to characterize the doped alumina substrate, the HA layer and the interface of them. The interfaci...Moreal bonding strength between the sintered substrate and the HA deposited film was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy. The evolution of the grains growth of the substrate samples of Y2O3: Al2O3, without HA and in parallel of the system HA/ Y2O3: Al2O3, was observed. Grains growth behavior of these samples show a linear evolution. Statistical analysis of the experimental data was performed. In order to built a mathematical model for the grain growth process, the grain size is interpretated as a random variable having log-normal or Weibull probability density function. Finally we observe the correlation between the HA layer and the sintered substrate, the interdependence between them, the final structure of HA and doped alumina.
