Assessment of Manufacture ability and Application of HVOF on Construction Machinery Parts

  ABSTRACT
  The remanufacturing for waste and obsolete engineering machinery products,which is an important part of Recycle Economics and Green maintenance. The aim of remanufacturing engineering is to extend the service lives and to improve the service performance of components by using the advanced surface technologies, such as HVOF, on the basis of the scientific evaluation and life prediction of servicing conditions of components.
  According to manufacturing process, the chief problem to be solved is the pretreatment and remanufacturability of products. Broken, wear, corrosion and deforming are the main failure forms of parts,among which only fatigue broken is uneasy to be detected. How to determine whether the residual fatigue life is adequate to sustain another life cycle is a problem to be faced in remanufacture.And the remanufacturability of products is a primary problem to be facing in remanufacture.So it is significant to study the two problems.HVOF is a key remanufacturing repair technology, the spray process of WC-12Co powder is investigated in the paper. The main work is as follows.
  1. An example of axles remanufacturing is given. Tacking into account the example, the technics of discarding, cleanout, inspection in process of remanufacturing is analyzed. Some improving suggestion is pointed out.
  2. The method and model using to predict remanufacturing parts is of sense for preliminary determine whether the residual fatigue life is adequate to sustain another life cycle.
  3. The paper analyzes the fatigue life of axles half shaft: the finite element model is established and static analyses in ANSYS, and finally fatigue life analyses in ANSYS/Fatigue modual.
  4. The paper developed an assessing model of remanufacturability. It consisted three modular: technological modular, economical modular and environmental modular. The effectiveness and practicality of the model is verified through evaluating the remanufacturability of half shaft.
  5. Based on index of the hardness and porosity of coating, preparation of WC-12Co coating process parameters: propane gas pressure 0.65MPa, propane gas flow rate 16.7L/min, oxygen pressure 0.7MPa, oxygen flow 100L/min, spraying distance of 300mm.
  6. The porosity of coating deposited in the optimum process parameters was 1.42%, and the mean microhardness is 1087.3HV0.1.
  The coating has a better abrasive resistance compared with 45 steel and GCr15 steel. The excellent mechanical properties of WC-12Co coating are fully competent to the requirement of engineering machinery manufacturing.
