High velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) sprayed coatings have been widely used for industrial applications where good wear or corrosion resistance are needed exigently, because the coatings express low porosity, high hardness, low oxide content, high adhesion and compression stress. Over the last years, HVOF thermal spraying has been used for depositing metals, cermets and ceramics, and also proposed for fabricating amorphous metallic glasses which seems more feasible due to its high cooling rate of 107 –101 °K s−1. Up to now, some attempts have been made on preparation of amorphous alloy coatings by means of HVOF process, and most of the coatings show prominent properties, but the optimization of spraying parameters and corrosion behavior in different corrosive environments are still lacking.
