Abstract:The generation of cutting heat and influence of cutting heat on cutting process are presented in this paper. The state of the art of the cutting temperature measurement methods, analysis models for coated cutting tools is summarized. It is concluded that the finite element method results about three layered or more than three layered coated cutting tools are consistent with the experiment results. The influences of coating structure, coating material and workpiece material on cutting temperature are highlighted.
