Study on Preparation of Nano-Zinc Flake

  Abstract:Nano-zinc flake with thickness size in nano-level (or hundreds of nanometer) is characterized of large diameter-thick ratio, superfine and ultrathin particle size. It's mainly used for many kinds of waterborne inorganic salt coating,zinc-rich coating and Dacromet. So 、the nano-zinc flake has the advantage over the spherical zinc powder in the field of metal anti-corrosion. Base on the requirements of zinc flake about structure and performance, the experimental method is adopted to study the preparation technology of zinc flake in this paper.
  The zinc flake is prepared by wet micro-rolling method, as the major technological conditions including micro-rolling medium, micro-rolling solvent and micro-rolling temperature are considered, the contrast experiments about the effect of zinc flakiness are carried out in the same experimental conditions, and the mechanism acting on the flakiness by the micro-rolling force is deeply investigated. The particle size frequency distribution, particle size distribution, brightness, degree of flake change, scanning electron microscope (SEM) topography are taken as the evaluation index of zinc flake. The variation trend of particle size distribution is observed in the micro-rolling process, and the regular of zinc formed to flake is also summarized consequently. Meanwhile, the technological characteristics of preparing zinc flake are mastered in the experiments. The selection principle of the feasible technological conditions is carried out to prepare ultrafine and ultra-thin zinc flake, as both of material flow and stress condition in micro rolling process are considered.
  The experimental data show that it is feasible to prepare zinc flake under the technological conditions adjusted by the theory of micro-rolling force. The zinc flake sized about 20 pm in diameter can be prepared in the experiment, and the particle size distribution,morphology and other technical parameters are tested reaching the level of foreign zinc flake.
