Abstract: The relationship between thermal shock temperature difference and crack propagation based on the thermal shock experiment of YSZ coating prepared by APS was discussed in order to determine the critical temperature difference ΔTc. The effects of thermal shock on mechanical properties of samples after experiment were also analyzed. The results show that the ΔTc value of YSZ coating is about 425 °C.The crack growth during experiment basically follows the law of Hasselman model. The hardness and fracture toughness of YSZ samples have a downward trend with thermal shock temperature difference increment as a result of increasing surface thermal stress.
