Surface modifcation of the metals, metal composites,non-metallic materials, nanomaterials and polymeric materials has attracted many researchers due to their need to explore the suitability for various applications .Surface coating of the substrates to make them compatible for selected applications is one of the major research areas in the feld of materials science. Choice of soft materials as a coating material to maintain the flexibility of the substrates is indeed a major challenge. This is of particular signifcance where the coated substrates need to be folded without deforming the coating. Matching the viscoelasticity and rheology of the coating materials with the deformation characteristics of the substrates is crucial for potential coating materials. Many materials have been identifed for protective coatings due to their certain properties like weather-resistance, inertness to solvents,inertness towards acids and alkalies, hydrophobicity,anti-fouling characteristics, etc.
