Abstract: Applied to different industries and fields, hydraulic cylinders are required to keep the self -property in the complicated environment, but the piston rods of the cylinder are always led to failure by scratch, wear and corrosion etc. In the current market,Chrome -plating is usually used to improve the wear and corrosion resistance. However, Cr6 + is forbidden in some European countries because Chrome -plating causes serious environmental pollution. In this paper, a method used to improve the wear and corrosion resistance of piston rods by thermal spray is introduced.
