Study on performances of WC-12Co HVAF coating against cavitaion,silt erosion and abrasion

  Abstract: Two types of coating of WC-12Co powder synthesized by two different methods were sprayed onto a anti-abrasion disk by active combustion-high velocity air fuel ( AC-HVAF) . A systematical experiment of the disc rotating on a test rig was conducted to study the performance and mechanism of its abrasion in three different conditions of pure water cavitation,silt erosion and sandy water cavitaion. The study reveals that in all the three conditions the HVAF coatings have better anti-abrasion performances than that of metal matrix.
  By scanning electron microscope ( SEM) analysis,the effects of powder properties on the interfacial bonding strength,micro-hardness and porosity ratio of the coatings are examined in details.
