[Abstract] Featured with very high particle velocities and relatively low particle temperatures as compared to those in the plasma spray process and other oxy-fuel thermal spray, theHVOF thermal spray provides a efficientway to produce higher adhesion dense coatings. The nanometermaterials has greatly changedmaterialproperties ofelectronics,mechanics, magnetics, thermodynamics and opticsdue to theirunique surface, volume and quantum size effects. Further developmentofnanaomaterials technologywillbe focused on their engineering application. The thermal spraying process is considered as amostpro-isingmethod for fabricating nanostructured materials. Greatprogressof fabricating nanostructured by HVOF has beenmade according to the situation home and abroad. From domestic to foreign literatures, the research presentofnanostructured coating prepared byHVOF was analyzed, the forming and combination mechanism of nanostructured coatingswere also elaborated, and the existentquestion usingHVOF thermal spraywas pointed ou.t The brightprospectof fabricating nanostructured coatings byHVOFwas preconceived.
