Abstract: NiAl-TiB2 composite coatings with 0,10 and 20% TiB2 were prepared on Ni-based superalloy substrate using electro-thermal explosion ultrahigh speed spraying technology. The results show that the coatings consist of submicron grains. The bond between coatings and substrate is metallurgical binding. TiB2 as effective reinforcement is doped in NiAl,which increases its hardness. The isothermal oxidation tests at 1000 ℃ in air show that the oxidation resistance of NiAl coating is higher than that of NiAl-TiB2 composite coatings.
Key words: electro-thermal explosion spraying; NiAl-TiB2 composite coatings; microstructure; oxidation resistance
