The selection of process parameters

  In order to facilitate the selection of process parameters and the improvement of mechanical properties of plasma spray coatings , grow th and mesoscopic structure of plasma spray coatings were numerically investigated , by using the modified coating grow th model and a new recursion algorithm .The numerical simulation consists of several m ain physical processes , such as impact defo rmation and solidification of liquid ceramic drops, accumulation and grow th of coatings , po rosity form ation , temperature distribution and evolution in coating sy stem .A commercial FEM code , ANSYS v5.6 w as adopted for the calculation of temperature fields in coatings and the grow th processw as artificially divided into 10 steps .At the same time, 1000×1000 meshes w ere used to g rasp the detailed mesoscopic structures in the coating s, and fly ing velocity ,melting condition and initial position of ceramic drops w ere random in the pecified sampling spans .The results of investigation indicate that the relationship between the process parameters and the mesoscopic structure of coatinges is very obvious .With the enlargement of the diameter and fly ing velocity of ceramic drops,the void contents in the coatings rose .However , when the temperature and the deg ree of roughness of the substrate w ere increased , the coating s were further compacted  .
