Study of Silane Pretreatment to Improve Corrosion Resistance of Coatings on Aluminum Alloy

  Abstract: The reaction mechanism of silane pretreatment was introduced. The main influencing factors were discussed by orthogonal test to find the optimum process parameters. An acrylic powder coating was coated on Al ally after pretreatment,and the coating performance was examined by adhesion,CASS and FILIFORM test. The result showed that the optimum parameters of pretreatment solution were as following: silane concentration 8 g / L,additive concentration 1. 0 g / L,pH 2. 0 and processing time 2 min. The silane pretreatment can improve the adhesion and corrosion resistance of acrylic powder coating on aluminum alloy significantly.
